Who is Maria Galaxidas?

Are you looking for a front-end web developer who has a strong passion for thinking outside the box? Someone who has a hybrid flare of strong artistic design and development? Maria Galaxidas is a new media (interactive) developer and front-end web developer who is located out of Toronto, Canada. She has worked at large corporate enterprises, medium sized software companies, and start-up digital firms. She has a particular interest in the front-end spectrum of web development, particularly, interactive development, UI/UX, graphics, responsive design, physical computing (hacking, she loves her arduino) and interactive design. She has even dabbled into Google Analytics for the Bank of Montreal (Investorline). She spends a lot of her time dedicated towards mobile first design, accessibility, UX design/development, and UI design /development. Maria's logic dictates that all of her dedication is a great way to optimize her passion for design, web development and psychology (why do we look at things in a particular way? How can we manipulate an environment so the end user looks at it differently?). If this seems fitting, please don't hesitate and send her your story to be your next front-end web developer.

What can she do?

I find the world of web development fascinating! It’s always changing, drifting from medium to medium (re: 2007: cellphones, 2013: glasses, 2015 watches, 2020: embodied in our brains?). I am that front-end web developer who is always reading the latest blog to find out new web development/design trends and using those skills for personal and professional growth.

Whether I am designing or developing a website (from start to finish), using a large amount of data to make something cool, maintaining social media network(s), staying up to date with SEO, UI/UX, staying hip with the web accessibility-AODA for you Ontarians-, responsive design, creating logos or infographics. My goal is simple. I love to make things. Front-end web development nurtures that thirst for instant gratification of a creation.

Beyond the world of front-end web development, I have a strong passion for interactive development. Particularly, (physical) user experience, immersive interactive installation, interactive installation and heck I've even sculpted a brain out of 120 LEDs that was controlled by twitter-yeah, I did that!
